Exploring the Beauty of Senaru Waterfall in Lombok
Located at the foot of Mount Rinjani in North Lombok, Senaru Waterfall is one of the island’s most captivating natural attractions. Known locally as Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfalls, these twin waterfalls offer not only scenic beauty but also a refreshing escape for nature lovers and adventurers.
Sendang Gile, the first waterfall, is just a 15-minute walk from the entrance of the Senaru village. The water flows down gracefully from a height of around 30 meters, surrounded by lush green jungle and cool mountain air.
A short trek further into the forest leads to Tiu Kelep, the second and more powerful waterfall. The path involves crossing a shallow river and walking through a beautiful jungle trail. Tiu Kelep is famous for its mystical ambiance and the natural pool beneath it, where visitors can swim in the clear, cool water.
Senaru Waterfall is more than just a scenic destination—it’s part of the rich cultural and spiritual landscape of the Sasak people. Many locals believe the water has healing properties, and visiting the falls is often tied to traditional rituals.
For travelers visiting Lombok, a trip to Senaru Waterfall offers the perfect mix of adventure, nature, and local culture. It’s also a great starting point for those planning to trek Mount Rinjani.
